A New World Record for The Rug

Apr 1, 2021

Yes, You’re reading it correctly… We are going for a world record in making the world’s largest rug.

What? How? When? Which? Where?

We’ll answer all of that don’t worry.

Before we answer all that, here’s some facts you should know.

  1. The current largest carpet in the world measures 5,630 m² (60,600.81 ft²)
  2. It was manufactured by the Iran Carpet Company based in Nishabour.
  3. The carpet was created for the Abu Dhabi Mosque in 2007.
  4. The huge carpet was divided into 9 parts and assembled at the Mosque.
  5. Originally the size was meant to be 6,000 m2 but in order to fit it onto the floor in the mosque, parts of it had to be taken away.

So the current record holds at 5,630 m². We are going to attempt making 6,120 m2.

We plan on using the Montana Rug design 3714BE for the large print and the materials used will be a heavy load of high-quality Polypropylene with the ends hand stitched to have minimal fraying.

The approximate time frame to we intend to finish the making is 10 months’ time from now. Week by week we’ll take you through some live updates on our social media channels that showcases our Germany warehouse and a section specially allocated to the making of this gigantic masterpiece rug.

Stay Tuned for A New World Record for The Rug , we will update you very soon.

Wish us luck!

PS: Oh come on.. It is April Fool’s Day 😀
